Heathrow Terminal 4

Due to the expansion of the airport to include a fifth terminal, the London Underground Piccadilly Line Terminal 4 station will be closed from January 2005 to September 2006, please terminate at Hatton Cross where a replacement bus service will transport you to terminal 4. Please allow an extra 20 minutes on your journey time. Terminals 1,2 and 3 are not affected.

Passports

A 10 year British or EC passport is essential and must be valid for at least 6 months after your intended date of return. Non UK and EC citizens are advised to check with the relevant embassy regarding visa requirements.

Health

For up-to-date advice we strongly recommend you consult with your GP well in advance of travel.

Thailand

Visas: Not required by UK citizens for stays of up to 30 days .

Time: GMT + 7

Flying time from UK: Approx 12 hours

Currency: Thai Bhat (THB) £1 = THB73 approx

Departure Tax: THB500 for international flights.

China

Visas: All visitors must obtain a visa before departure. They are available from the Chinese embassy at a cost of £30. Unless you use a specialist visa company, applications must be made in person. www.chinese-embassy.org.uk

Currency: Renminbi or Yuan (CNY) £1 = CNY15 approx.

Departure Tax: CNY50 for domestic flights. CNY90 for international flights.

Malaysia

Visas: Not required by UK citizens for stays of up to 3 months.

Currency: Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) £1 = MYR7 approx.

Hong Kong

Visas: Not required by UK citizens for stays of up to 6 months

Departure Tax: Included in airfare

Singapore

Visas: Not required by UK citizens for stays of up to 1 month

Bali

Visa: Visitors will be issued with a visa on arrival at Denpasar

Time: GMT + 8

Currency: Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) £1 = IDR17,500 approx

Departure Tax: IDR20, 000 for domestic flights. IDR100,000 for international flights

Vietnam

Visas: All visitors must obtain a visa before departure. They can be obtained in person or by post from the embassy, costs vary depending on type of visa. www.vietnamembassy.org.uk

Flying time from UK: Approx 16 hours via Bangkok

Currency: Vietnamese Dong (VND) £1 = VND30,000. The US dollar is the favoured currency. The import and export of local currency is prohibited

Cambodia

Visas: All visitors require a visa which can be obtained on arrival at Phnom Penh and Sim Reap airports. The current cost is US$20. A passport sized photo is required

Flying time from UK: Approx 15 hours via Bangkok

Currency: Riel (KHR) £1 =KHR 7,100 approx. Travellers cheques and credit cards have little acceptance. The US dollar is widely accepted but other foreign currencies are little recognised. The import and export of local currency is prohibited

Departure Tax: US$15 from Sim Reap and US$20 from Phnom Penh

Laos

Visas: Visitors will be issued a visa on arrival at Vientianne or Luang Prabang airports. The current cost is US$30 and 2 passport sized photos are required
